Reflecting as we progress at full speed

THE COMEDY OF PARENTING

Life, they say, is like a box of chocolates—you never quite know what you’re going to get. Yet, realistically, it often feels more like a box of mixed metaphors. One moment, you’re cruising down life’s highway; the next, you’re stalled in a traffic jam of self-discovery. That’s precisely where I found myself: standing at a crossroads, questioning how I’d ended up there, and laughing at the absurdity of it all. Time slips by when you’re caught up chasing deadlines, barely noticing the journey.

The art of juggling

Reflecting, the five years between my global travels and the arrival of motherhood stand out as a period of profound transformation. I used this time to pause, reassess my life, and align my path with what truly resonated. Letting go of the familiar and embracing uncertainty became my compass, guiding me as I uncovered my authentic self. Those stories from this chapter may sound extraordinary, but each contains a grain of truth. By consciously stepping off a path that no longer suited me, I opened the door to deep self-exploration and a more rewarding experience as a mother.

Years in between

As a storyteller, I was always on the move—discovering new cultures, meeting extraordinary people, and capturing the essence of distant lands. Now, my adventures involve packing nappies and snacks for trips with my boys. The world remains full of wonder—now, I see it through the eyes of a mother. Motherhood is a hilarious odyssey full of surprises. Recently, I tried to meditate with my toddler, who turned my peaceful practice into a laughter-filled “om” chorus. These small moments remind me to embrace chaos and enjoy the humour. Parenting is a comedy of errors—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Creating a new life

Blending humour and spirituality in parenting isn’t just delightful—it’s essential. It’s about finding lightness amidst the daily mayhem and absorbing the profound lessons life offers. Every chapter of my journey feels like a quest, with purpose woven into each search for meaning in every experience. I aim to create a home where laughter soars and spiritual values guide us like stars. This delicate balance—juggling everyday chaos with moments of reflection—keeps me grounded and connected to my inner self.

Self discovery

When it comes to capturing these memories, my heavy camera stays hidden in a cupboard. Honestly, I’d rather spend that time teaching my boys life skills—such as negotiating for extra pudding or avoiding chores. Instead of lugging around that camera, I jot down our daily lessons and take simple photos with my trusty iPhone, which suits this new adventure perfectly.

No more heavy drama

Of course, balancing everything requires wisdom and practice—like a seasoned juggler calmly smiling while keeping all the balls in the air. The reward? A connection that goes beyond the everyday and allows us to explore the depths of our relationships. And, honestly, who knew that managing tantrums and bedtime bargaining could become a spiritual practice? It’s all in a day’s work for a parent!

Hidden treasure

As I begin this new chapter, I am genuinely grateful for the steadfast support of my family and friends, as well as everyone who believed in me during my struggles. Thank you for being part of my journey and helping me overcome hardships.

Stories of a mother and a traveler

Let’s navigate life’s twists and turns together, embracing both its beauty and challenges while finding joy in the act of creating. Ultimately, our words, stories, and connections matter most. Isn’t that what life is about? Evolving, adapting, and facing uncertainty with heart. As a traveller, I’ve learned how essential it is to know where I am and where I want to go. Here’s to the beauty of the present, the promise of the future, and creating something meaningful together.

Balancing the chaos and spirituality

From now on, I’m simply going to write about whatever comes to mind—whatever feels worth sharing at the moment. After all, what I’ve learned through life usually comes up right here, right now… and I’ll likely jump around in time, comparing thoughts from then and now, before I was a traveller, a mum, or somewhere in between.

Reflecting on motherhood and growth

Let’s be honest: I’m not the youngest anymore (okay, I am—a young parent to my kids!), so I figure it’s best to jot these things down before dementia sneaks up on me. Why share my thoughts with the world? Well, why not! 😃

Connecting and sharing around the globe
